FedEx Express is best known the world over as a leading express transport provider. Yet not many are aware that this company is likewise an advocate of road safety, particularly for youngsters. In fact, FedEx recently awarded its latest Young Road Safety Champion.
Danna Jae Castillo was named the 2017 Young Road Safety Champion during the annual National Safe Kids Week, held every third week of June. Organized by FedEx and Safe Kids Worldwide Philippines, the annual event is part of the Young Road Safety Advocate Program. Launched in 2004, the program involves fifth and sixth grade student-mentors who train younger children about proper pedestrian behavior and road safety. The most effective mentors are named Young Road Safety Champion.
“We at FedEx are committed in creating safer environments within the community. By awarding our Young Road Safety Champion and celebrating National Safe Kids Week, we continue to harness the power of education and empower the youth as partners in our road safety advocacy,” says John Peterson, FedEx Express Philippines Managing Director.
