The year 2016 may only be Volkswagen Philippines’ third year of operations in the country. Yet even at a young age, the company has already been recognized more than a few times during the course of the year. In fact, it has garnered no less than 14 awards for its various models and advocacy campaigns.
The iconic Volkswagen Golf, GTI, for instance, received its fair share of awards at the recently-conclude Auto Focus People Choice and Media’s Choice Awards held last October. The Golf GTI, together with the Passat, and Touran, got the Best Engine Performance Award, as well as the Best Design prize. The three models, along with the Touareg, also received the Best Value for Money honors from the Sunshine Television-organized event.
The Passat, Volkswagen’s luxurious midsize sedan, also took home the Luxury Midsize Car award from the Car Awards Group Inc’s (CAGI’s) Car of the Year-Philippines. The group, which is the largest gathering of motoring journalists in the country, recognized the VW sedan for its fine balance of luxury and sportiness. Speaking of the Golf and Passat, C! Magazine also recognized these two vehicles as the Best Compact and Executive Sedans, respectively, during its 2016 C! Awards.
Volkswagen’s vehicles, however, weren’t the only ones given honors this year. The brand’s very own Child Safety Initiative (CSI) campaign has won quite a number of trophies in 2016 as well. First was the Silver Anvil Award in the Public Relations Programs, Specialized Advocacy Campaigns of the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP). The distinction was given during the 51st Anvil Awards last February.
The CSI thrust once again gained acclaim just last month at Top Gear Philippines’ 2nd Stig Awards, bagging the Best Road Safety Advocacy prize. To date, CSI has seen some 7,527 children aged 4-8 years old, and 5,690 parents who have all been taught the value of road safety.
Yes, it has been a great year for Volkswagen Philippines. Congratulations!
