Kia Adds More Life to the Soul

The Kia Soul has always been one of those vehicles that manage to catch the eye. Thank its boxy profile for that. But for all its goodness, it lacked one thing: soul while driving, due in no small part to barely-ample horsepower.

Kia plans to remedy this with the new Soul Exclaim. The life of this little crossover is the new 1.6-liter turbocharged mill that puts out a rousing 201hp. That’s 40 more horses than the naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter lump. Mated to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission, it promises zippy performance out on the open road.

All that go-faster goodness is matched by some cool new exterior touches, such as red accent body trim, 18-inch alloys, a chrome grille, dual-tip exhausts, and unique Soul badging. The cabin also gets goodies like a lovely D-shaped steering wheel, UVO3 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, pushbutton start with smart key, and a 315-watti Harman Kardon sound system with eight speakers, including subwoofer. Kia even threw in Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Traffic Alert for good measure.

Now, Kia’s funky crossover truly has more soul.
