Kia Reveals a Bolder Picanto; Now With Turbo Power

Around a month or so ago, Kia teased the world with images of the upcoming third-generation Picanto.  The photos revealed a bolder, more youthful looking supermini that was poised to bring new excitement to the otherwise econobx-minded segment. Well, Kia has just officially unveiled the little Picanto in Europe and it is, indeed, promising.

The look is truly more dynamic, with flowing details that give it more coherence. The front fascia, for instance, integrates the headlights with the signature Tiger Nose grille for a cleaner and more upscale touch. That little window kink in the rear blends well with the C-pillars, while the rear is a cleaned up version of the current car. Not a bad thing, as the present model Picanto is actually one of the more handsome models in the class.

The cabin, Kia says, is also all new. What sets this one apart from its peers is its potential for connectivity. With today’s motorist putting a premium on mobile internet and gadget integration like, Kia has taken steps to ensure that people stay connected even while on the move. Thus, a host of connectivity options will be on offer.

Probably the biggest news for the small Kia is what’s under the hood. The new Kia Picanto will be available with a 1.0 turbocharged gasoline direct injection (T-GDI) motor, which Kia claims, will be the most powerful Picanto motor ever. This little lump promises outstanding performance mixed with exceptional fuel economy.

The all-new Kia Picanto will have its public global debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in March. Sales will commence shortly thereafter.
