Remember the Mitsubishi XM Concept? Folks who attended the 2016 Philippine International Motor Show may recall a bright colored multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) at the carmaker’s stand that gave a peek into what would very well be a future MPV offering. Well, the time has come as Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) will soon be unveiling a seven-seat MPV.

The new MPV will make its global debut at the 25th Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show, which will run from August 10 to 20, 2017. While not much was revealed about the new vehicle, Mitsubishi did cite a few things.

First up was that it will combine the “comfort and versatility of an MPV with the performance, strength, and toughness of a Mitsubishi Motors SUV”.  The Japanese company went on to say that the new vehicle will also boast a “class topping” interior with comfort and space for both passengers and cargo.

Although MMC only gave out teaser photos, it is clear that the silhouette reveals a Dynamic Shield design language, a prominent character line on the side, upswept rear quarter window, and muscular fenders—combining both MPV and SUV styling cues. Beyond all the press fluff, what all this essentially means is that Mitsubishi will give us something like a Montero Sport-meets-an-Innova kind of ride.

Of course, all this is mere speculation at this point. Best thing to do is stayed tuned to this space as we bring you the full details once the new MPV is unveiled. The Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show will take place on August 10 to 20, 2017 at the Indonesian Convention Exhibition in BSD City, Tangerang, Banten, Indonesia.
