Nissan Philippines, Inc. (NPI), the exclusive distributor of Nissan vehicles in the country, has launched the Urvan Premium, a new range-topping variant of its popular van model. As its name suggests, the vehicle offers a more sophisticated exterior look that’s matched with some notable goodies within.
Style-wise, the Urvan Premium sports a V-shaped grille up front that’s flanked with sharper looking headlights. Distinct character lines on the fascia also give the vehicle a bit of masculinity. Turning to the side, the roof drip channel has been removed. This provides a cleaner look which emphasizes the vehicle’s overall larger body.
Looking at the tale of the tape, the Nissan Urvan Premium measures 5,230mm long and 1,880mm wide. It also stands tall at 2,285mm which accounts for its increased passenger headroom. Not only that, its wheelbase stretches up to 2,940mm which translates to copious amounts of legroom for its occupants, 15 of them, to be exact.
Interestingly with the above-mentioned dimensions, the Nissan Urvan Premium can hold its own well against the competition, most especially the Toyota Hiace Grandia GL.
Inside, Nissan fitted the Urvan Premium with suede-like fabric seats. Its new seating configuration featuring 4 rows of individually mounted seats provide ample walking space across the rear cabin. The walking space also doubles as a convenient luggage compartment for easy access of bags, strollers, and more large items. Adding comfort on long journeys is Nissan’s famed air-conditioning system that has 14 individual vents.
As for convenience, it includes Door Closure Assist that allows passengers to close the door without exerting too much effort, Moreover, it has rear step board, rear grips and hand rails. Experience convenience not only in the vehicle but also with Nissan Express Service.
Engine wise, a turbocharged 2.5L 4-cylinder diesel engine pushes 129 hp and 356 Nm of torque. The driver can control this engine using a 5-speed manual transmission that drives the rear wheels.
The Urvan Premium is expected to be a segment sales-driver with a price tag of Php1,650,000. It will be available on all Nissan dealerships nationwide in June.
As foot note, the Urvan Premium's launching was the perfect timing for NPI to announce that it concluded Q1 2017 strong with a record 5,277 units sold. The Urvan served as a significant contributor to this achievement as it took 31% of the Q1 2017 sales pie, selling 1.651 units from January to March.
