It looks like many manufacturers are catching the motorsports bug lately. The first-ever Targa Manila Rally was held last September 24 wherein French carmaker Peugeot allowed 24 teams to get behind the wheel of its rally-bred machines.
Targa Manila flagged off out the posh Polo Club in Makati City and headed up north to Clark International Speedway. Here, the teams completed an adrenaline-filled lap around the track. From there, they went straight to the Subic NetworX Water Sports Area for some jetski action. The day was capped off with yet another exhilarating drive back to Manila with a stopover once again at Clark Speedway for a drag race.
This being an event organized by Peugeot, together with Tuason Racing School, the 2016 Targa Manila Rally was naturally a showcase for the brand’s best offerings. Seven 208 GTis and two RCZs comprised the Peugeot division. At the end of the day, overall championship honors went to the team of Elbert Cuenca, Chester Gokingyok, and Rogelio Pasamonte.
Yes, racing fever is definitely in the air.
