Porsche has always been an integral part of many video games. Since the onset of the racing games era, there has always been a Porsche or two in the lineup of cars that one can choose to “drive”. The German sports car maker seems to want to ensure that it will not be leaving the virtual realm any time soon as it recently forged a new partnership with leading racing game creator Microsoft.
The partnership between Porsche and Microsoft was recently announced at the New York International Auto Show and will span a total of six years. The deal will cover not just racing games but electronic gaming competitions as well. This means that aside from seeing more Porsches in titles such as Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon, the Porsche Crest will likewise be seen in the growing eSport arena.
One such event is Forza Racing Championship, more popularly known as ForzaRC. The eSport series takes its cue from the Forza Motorsport 6 xBox game where more than 20 Porsches can be seen and chosen for maximum playtime fun. Registration for the 2017 season of ForzaRC is ongoing at https://forzarc.gfinity.net/, with qualifying beginning on May 1st.
Players who prefer Forza Horizon 3, meanwhile, will now get a slew of Porsches that they can drive. These include the legendary 550A Spyder, the 718 RS 60 Spyder from 1960, the 911 Carrera RS 2.7 from 1973, the 911 GT2 (type 993), the Cayman GT4 and the 911 GT3 RS, as well as the new Panamera Turbo.
