Car Awards Group, Inc. (CAGI), an organization of the Philippines’ top motoring journalists, has announced that it will be holding its Test Fest series this September and October. With that being said, CAGI will utilize a huge part of Arca South (formerly known as FTI) in Taguig City as its testing arena.
The decision to hold the Test Fest in Arca South was made after CAGI inked a partnership with Ayala Land, Inc. (ALI), the area’s owner and developer. Featuring a 74-herctar land area, CAGI deemed Arca South as an ideal venue to test a huge number of vehicles from different car manufacturers.
The CAGI Test Fest is a series of vehicle testing events for its annual Car of the Year Philippines (COTY-P) and Truck of the Year Philippines (TOTY-P) awards. It consists of 2 parts; Qualitative and Quantitative, which would help to determine the rightful winners of the said titles.
“Smooth travel on the road is key to urbanites. Arca South aims to provide a city in sync for urban dwellers as it will be connected to the planned government infrastructure projects: Skyway,-C5/C6 Connector Road Project and the South Intermodal Transport System (ITS); offering a pleasant and convenient commute to and within the mixed-use estate.” said Arca South Project Head Stephen Comia.
In recap, Qualitative involves testing the vehicles’ customer satisfaction attributes like looks, interior fit and finish, tech amenities, riding comfort, performance, and more. Quantitative, on the other hand, involves the use of high-tech gadgetry such as data loggers and GPS devices to determine the accurate score of each vehicle in terms of performance and more attributes. This is carried out via KPMG RG Manabat & Co., an auditing and tallying expert.

What’s new for this year is the addition of the MOTY-P or the Motorcycle of the Year Philippines award. Launched during the Manila International Auto Show last April, CAGI aimed to give highlight to the booming local motorcycle industry, seeing its popularity with lots of Filipino motorists in recent years.
Much like COTY-P and TOTY-P, the MOTY-P is also geared toward educating the general motoring public about the high and low points of the vehicles available in the market today. This, in turn, would help them make the right decisions before buying a vehicle.
“We will witness history in the making as Arca South will be the first venue where we will conduct tests on motorcycles. With the much-needed cooperation from the developer, we hope to see our search for the best vehicles in both two and four wheels a success,” said CAGI President Ronald de los Reyes.
