Paying it forward is the name of the game this September for Ford. Case in point, the American carmaker is once again ushering its Ford Global Caring Month, and the good news is that Ford Philippines is taking part in this month-long celebration.
The Ford Global Caring Month is Ford’s own way giving back to the world the success it has achieved in the automotive industry. It’s basically a community service that’s set on a global scale and is run by the brand’s entire workforce called the Ford Volunteer Corps. Taking flight in 2005, the Ford Global Caring Month has clocked more than 1 million hours of community service in 50 countries.
In the Philippines, Ford has partnered with Gawad Kalinga, a community development organization, to move forward its Global Caring Month activities. Some of these include house painting in Cavite, building communal water facilities in Nueva Ecija and Batangas, and delivery of medical and dental services in Muntinlupa.
“We’re proud to again participate in the Ford Global Caring Month with projects in various communities that will provide tangible benefits. Our Ford and dealer employee volunteers are excited to again lend a helping hand,” says Josephine Gonzalez, Assistant Vice President for Government and Corporate Affairs, Ford Philippines.
Overseas, the Ford Global Caring Month has a host of community service activities lined up. Examples include;
- Installing water tanks at a camp for disadvantaged young people in Australia
- Helping in building a facility to care for unprivileged families and their children with cancer in Brazil
- Assisting in preparing a new refugee camp in Germany
- Renovating a treatment center for children with disabilities in Mexico
- Renovating and constructing a senior citizens’ center and school in Russia
- Installing school water pumps and storage systems in South Africa
- Restoring a children’s activity center, including refurbishing a shelter for the homeless in the United Kingdom
Finally, the Ford Foundation (Ford Fund) has pledged $600,000 worth of grants that would be used to buy the necessary tools and equipment for this year’s Global Caring Month.
