For almost 50 years, Range Rover has been considered as the pinnacle of luxury SUVs. Even before the term was coined, the British premium off-road maker has been churning out one of the most luxurious and truly capable vehicles around. Now, Range Rover is about to take a leap into the future while still keeping a huge part of its storied past.

The 2018 Range Rover will sport a number of upgrades that give it more tech and a cleaner heart. Sure, the exterior remains largely untouched—the way it should be. Yet that doesn’t mean it can’t receive bits like a new grille, LED headlamps, a new front and rear bumper, and new side vents in either satin body color or Atlas accents.

Inside, the comfortable mountain goat gets even more comfy, thanks to goodies like 24-way (yes, 24!) adjustable seats that practically let occupants configure their seating, position every which way. They can likewise set heating, cooling, and massage functions to suit their fancy.

Apart from comfortable seating, passengers can connect their various devices using no less than 17 power and connection points scattered across the opulent cabin. One can also hook up to 8 devices wirelessly to the Range’s Wi-Fi hotspot. And of course, the InControl Touch Pro infotainment system gives front seat occupants two 10-inch touchscreens to play with.

Power now comes in the form of upgraded 5.0-liter supercharged V8 motors that produce up to 557hp. The big news, however, is the addition of a P400e plug-in hybrid version that is set to arrive in 2019. The hybrid drive system will consist of a 2.0-liter gasoline mil and an electric motor putting out 296hp and 114 horses, respectively. This gives the Range Rover P400e Hybrid a total system output of 398hp, enough to power the large SUV from rest to 100kph in just 6.4 ticks. Jaguar Land Rover promises cleaner emissions and lower fuel bills while you’re at it.

The updated Range Rover will arrive in dealerships by the end of the year. The P400e Hybrid version, however, will start rolling out by 2019.
