It seems like the seven-seat MPV segment is really becoming more competitive. The Mitsubishi Xpander has been enjoying brisk sales in markets like Indonesia. It will likewise battle it out with the likes of the Honda BR-V and the upcoming Toyota Rush in our mmarket.
But as the fight heats up, Suzuki has just debuted the all-new Ertiga. A quick glance shows a new grille flanked by upswept headlamps. The body shows off character lines that break up an otherwise slab side. And there are a bit of muscular touches in those fenders.
Just like the exterior, the cabin gets a bit more upscale. New flat-bottom steering wheel, touchscreen infotainment display, pushbutton start, and other features all hint at a more preium vibe.
The new Suzuki MPV is underpinned by the new-generation HEARTECT platform. This makes it some 130mm longer, translating to increased cabin space. This is particularly true for legroom--a major consideration in vehicles of this class.
It will be powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder motor that puts out 104hp and 138Nm of torque. This little motor is paired with either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed auto.
With Suzuki Philippines being rather aggresive lately, we can expect it to bring in the new Ertiga and duke it out in this firecely-fought segment. Game on.
