Ford made headlines sometime back when it announced that it would be focusing its attention on churning out more crossovers and SUVs rather than cars. But lo and behold as the Blue Oval company treats enthusiasts to something tasty with a hint of practicality to boot. Enter the Ford Focus ST Wagon.
Offered only in Europe as of press time, the Focus ST Wagon serves up the same goodness seen in the performance-oriented Focus ST hatchback, albeit with more cargo space. Buyers can choose between a 2.3-liter gasoline mill with 276hp and 420Nm of torque, or a 2.0-liter diesel with 187hp and 400Nm. Both are powered by the brand’s EcoBoost turbo technology and paired with either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed automatic.
While Ford has not given any performance figures, one would assume (based on the ST hatchback’s 0-100kph run) that this one would do the same in a little more than 6 seconds, given its slightly heavier curb weight. Ford aids this performance with goodies like an electronic slip differential, revised electric power steering, and a pair of Recaro seats for front passengers. And yes, all these are wrapped in a svelte wagon body.
As mentioned, the Ford Focus ST Wagon will only be available in Europe. Here’s hoping that Ford Philippines brings in even just a few units into our market.
