Tesla has built a name for itself by churning out really cool electric cars. We don’t mean golf carts but actual, good-looking vehicles like the Model S, the Roadster, the Model X SUV, and soon, the Model 3.

Within the coming years, Tesla hopes to establish its reputation as a builder of some of the world’s safest self-driving vehicles. Thus, the American start-up today announced that all its vehicles will now be fitted with autonomous driving technology as standard.

The new hardware will consist of goodies like eight cameras that give a 360-degre view of the world around. The surround view can see up to a distance of 250 meters. Thiis will be helped out by ultrasonic sensors that further enhance safety. Moreover, radar and sonar will be thrown in for good measure.

Running the show will be a new supercomputer that has up to 40 times the brain power of the previous generation self-piloting feature. This enables it to think faster and react to critical situations quicker and more efficiently.

But why all the hype about self-driving Teslas? The car technology company believes that such goodies are more effective at handling the daily commute than any human being. Plus, it will help relieve drivers of the stresses associated with traffic and chaos on the road. And it can give mobility to those who otherwise aren’t able to get around that easily—like the differently-abled.
