While the Philippines may be considered as one of the fastest growing economies in Asia, with its 6.7-7% Gross Domestic Product, the sad reality is that it still lags behind in a number of key areas. One of these is transport and logistics.
Statistics show that the country still has a long way to go compared to our neighbors. The World Bank’s 2016 Logistics Performance Index reveals that we rank 71st—below countries like Malaysia (32), Thailand (46), Indonesia (63), and way below Singapore’s 5th spot. This ranking can be attributed to our geographical make up—the country being an archipelago. Moreover, traffic and poor infrastructure has seen economic activity being concentrated in key cities like Metro Manila, Cebu, and Davao.
All is not lost, however, as events such as the Transport and Logistics Philippines aim to help stimulate the industry and find solutions to its various problems and concerns. This year will be no different, as it holds its fifth staging on August 17-19, 2017 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
Just like its beginnings in 2013, the show will bring together hundreds of commercial vehicle manufacturers and distributors, supply chain technology experts, and other professionals in the field. One of the highlights this year is a forum that will bring the latest policies, best practices, and of course, the newest technologies that will help increase efficiency.
There will likewise be an expo that will see a host of companies showing their wares and newest technologies. These include big names like Isuzu Philippines Corporation, Caltex, IVF Commercial, Hino Motors PH, All Prime, Asia Global, Giant Mercantile, and many more.s
Transport and Logistics 2017 will be held alongside Manufacturing Technology World, and China Machinery and Electronic Brand Show. Catch these events at the SMX Convention Center on August 17-19, 2017.
