As far as sporty Audis go, the R8 is arguably the model that best personifies the trait, particularly when it comes to production cars. The lines and drive al come together to ensure that one gets a truly engaging experience while behind the wheel. And now, the four-ringed badge puts its sporting heritage into the car. And we’re not simply referring to the Sport Edition moniker.
The Audi R8 Sport Edition brings together the signature Audi Sport colors of silver, red, and black into various parts of the car. Whether one orders it in Floret Silver, Mythos Black, or Ibis White, details like the sideblades and exterior mirrors come in a brilliant red. Then there are the Singleframe grille, front spoiler, and diffuser insert that are done in titanium black, while the trapezoidal exhaust pipes are finished in gloss ebony.
More black touches are seen on the 20-inch anthracite-effect alloy wheels with silver edges. These 10-spoke rims are wrapped in 245/30R20 tires up front and larger 305/30R20 out back. The flange even bears the Audi Sport logo, while V10 variants get blaring red brake calipers that lend a nice contrast.
Audi Sport GmbH has likewise equipped the cabin with exclusive touches such as illuminated side sills bearing the Audi Sport label, black and express red nappa leather with dark silver accents, and the Audi R8 logo embossed on the seats, just to name a few.
To truly heighten the driving experience, the Audi R8 V10 adds a few niceties to the already racy cockpit. Apart from the start button and the Audi Drive Select settings, two more buttons and a rotary knob are on hand to adjust the exhaust flaps, and additional drive modes. The latter allows the driver to choose between Dry, Wet, and Snow. All told, all these switches make for one truly personalized drive.
The Audi R8 Sport Edition was unveiled at the New York International Auto Show. Only 200 copies will be on offer beginning this May.
