30 May 1916—this day will forever be etched in the hearts of Peugeot fans as it marks the brand’s conquest of the legendary Indianapolis 500. Using his Peugeot L45, Dario Resta powered his way to victory at an average speed of 135kph.
A hundred years later, Peugeot and Peugeot Sport celebrated that famous win by fielding the Peugeot L500 R Hybrid Vision Gran Turismo, unveiled in May of last year. Not satisfied with its achievement, the French carmaker reveals a more potent and equally race-ready version of the virtual racer. Enter the Peugeot L750 R Hybrid Vision Gran Turismo.
Set to debut in time for the release of the PlayStation 4’s Gran Turismo Sport video game, the Peugeot L750 R Hybrid Vision Gran Turismo promises to stick to the pavement like glue, thanks to its sleek aerodynamic profile and carbon fiber monocoque structure. Apart from this, the racer weighs in at just 825kg, thanks to the use of featherweight components such as independent suspension front and rear, dual circuit hydraulic carbon brakes, and forged magnesium wheels.
The L750 R Hybrid Vision Gran Turismo wil be powered by a rear-mounted gasoline and electric hybrid motor combo. The gas mill, which can rev up to 10,000rpm, makes 580hp while the electric lump puts out 170 horses. All told, they course their 750hp to the drive wheels via 7-speed sequential gearbox. These numbers translate to a 0-100kph sprint of just 2.4 seconds.
You can start racing the Peugeot L750 R Hybrid Vision Gran Turismo by playing the Gran Turismo Sport video game this October.
