Japanese carmaker Subaru entered the recently-concluded 2019 Singapore Motor Show in style as it showcased some of its latest and future models. In addition, it also brought in a concept car, a slew of accessorized models, and renowned stunt driver Russ Swift to spice things up a notch during the 4-day automotive extravaganza.

First on its crowd-stoppers is the all-new Forester e-Boxer. From the outside, this may look like your typical Forester SUV; sleek, modern, and off-road ready. But it’s more than meets the eye as this one packs an electric motor to compliment its tried and true 2.0L gasoline-fed 4-cylinder boxer engine.

To put it simple, the Li-ion battery-powered electric motor would run the Forester e-Boxer at low to medium speeds to effectively conserve fuel. Only when higher speed is required will the gasoline engine kick in to extend the range. This Subaru technology is not entirely new as the Crosstrek (known locally as the Subaru XV) Hybrid beats the Forester e-Boxer by a few years. But nonetheless, the Forester e-Boxer is a welcome addition to the brand’s environment-conserving efforts.

Aside from the hybrid power train, the Forester e-Boxer was also designed using Subaru’s new Global Design Platform. In summary, this platform is geared toward designing the latest Subaru models to accommodate conventional, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully-electric power trains. As a result, the Forester e-Boxer offers more than 500L of cargo space.

Along with the Forester e-Boxer is the Subaru Viziv Tourer Concept. Gracing the global motoring scene in last year’s Geneva Motor Show, the Viziv Tourer Concept sets its sights on the mid-size wagon market with its dimensions at 7,775mm (length), 1,930mm (width), and 1,435mm (height) with a 2,730mm long wheelbase thrown in for good measure. Meanwhile, serving as backdrops for the Forester e-Boxer and Viziv are some of the brand’s models that have been dressed to impress those looking for added sporty looks. These include the XV 2.0i-S with +Package, Outback 2.5i-S with Touring Package, Forester 2.0i_s with Ranger Package, and Forester 2.0i-l with Airborne Ranger Package.

Lastly, Subaru’s Singapore Motor Show participation was topped off with a slew of awesome stunt driving performances by none other than Russ Swift. Russ Swift is a professional stunt driver and is doing his signature moves using Subaru vehicles for more than 10 years now. He’s also a regular show stopper at every Manila International Auto Show here in the Philippines through Motor Image Pilipinas, Inc., the official local distributor of Subaru.
