As far as sports cars go, Lotus cars are probably the closest thing you’ll get to a track-focused machine for the road. The low seating position, open-air feeling, and overall driving dynamics are just next to none. But what if you could take that recipe and bring it to the absolute extreme?

This is what Lotus seems have done with the next Exige 350 Special Edition. It begins life as a “regular” Sport 350 and adds a host of upgrades. Actually, it subtracts a few bits here and there, particularly in the area of weight. A total of 26kg was saved versus the Sport 350 by utilizing stuff like forged alloy wheels, a LI-Ion battery, ventilated two-piece brake discs, and carbon seats.

All this translates to blistering performance from a modestly-sized (for a sports car) 3.5-liter V6 that puts out 345hp. Zero to 100kph comes in at 3.9 ticks hile top speed is pegged at 274kph. But what really sets this car apart is the handling—many have described it as pure magic on wheels.

Being a Lotus, you can be sure it has the looks to match. This one, though, is beefed up with goodies like red brake calipers and racing stripes. Those that want a les raw experience can specify floor mats, carpeting, a high-end sound system, and extra sound insulation. Either way, buyers can choose between four distinct shades of Essex Blue, Dark Metallic Grey, Old English White, or Motorsport Black.

The Lotus Exige 350 Special Edition is for those that want a toy for both road and track. And everything else in between.
