They’re finally off! The six (6) finalists in the Nissan GT Academy Philippines have left to participate in the Nissan GT Academy Race Camp at the historic Silverstone Circuit in the United Kingdom.
Top six finalists--Kim Jiger Chong, Mervin John Mallen, Francis Adriano IV, Jan Millard, Dean Jose, and lone female driver Elysse Menorca--will compete against each other, as well as other competitors from Indonesia, Australia, Mexico, North Africa, and Thailand. All racers will jockey for position to be crowned the Nissan GT Academy champion.
Elysse Menorca, as mentioned above, is the very first female finalist. She will have an equal shot at the title and gun for glory. Giving the team that extra push is Lucas Ordonez, the first winner of the Nissan GT Academy International, who will serve as mentor.
Nissan Philippines hopes to repeat history when last year’s GT Academy Asia champ, Joward Policarpio, became the first Filipino to win the final race in Silverstone. The winner of this year’s race will take part in the Nissan Driver Development Program and train for the Dubai 24 Hour race with the Nismo team.
