The Toyota Crown, along with the equally luxurious Lexus LS, are considered as the flagship Toyota sedans. Yet believe it or not, Toyota actually has an even more upscale model in its Japanese home market. And that car, the Century, is about to enter its third generation.
Set to be revealed at this year’s 45th Tokyo Motor Show, the Toyota Century continues the long-standing Japanese tradition set by this full-size number back in 1967. While the stately shape is a evolution of the previous generation (which ran for roughly 20 years) , the Japanese carmaker put in some modern touches to bring the car into the 21st, err, century.
The dual structure grille, for instance, has a crown pattern that gives the car a powerful presence upon its arrival. It is flanked by triple projector LED headlamps that light the eay even on the darkest roads. The body, meanwhile, is now longer with a lengthened wheelbase. This translates to greater passenger room, especially in the rear quarters. The blacked-out rear combination lamp trim finishes things off with a sense of unity.
