At the recent Nissan Thanksgiving party held at the Marriott Grand Ballroom, Marriott Hotel, Manila, the Japanese carmaker took the opportunity to unveil a slew of vehicles showcasing what’s new for the coming year. Among the offerings are the Nissan Patrol Royale that gets a new engine and transmission, the Nissan Urvan, now with a Premium S variant, and the little Nissan Juke with some cool new touches.
While the updates to these models may seem cosmetic at first glance, Nissan assures everyone that there’s more to these vehicles than meets the eye. The Patrol Royale, for instance, gets a more potent version of its 5.6-liter V8 motor. The new mill now boasts direct injection and variable valve timing, allowing it to produce 400hp and 560Nm of torque. These are up from the previous version’s 320hp and 533Nm. All that juice is sent to the four drive wheels via new 7-speed automatic gearbox.
Just like the pre-facelifted model, the 2018 Nissan Patrol Royale gets a full-time four-wheel drive system with 4-Low and 4-High settings to improve off-road capability. Just like the older model, this new one retains the overall profile but gets new stuff like the front bumper, foglights, a new egg crate-style V-Motion grille, new LED healdights and taillights, and updated 20-inch alloy wheels.
The refreshed cabin now comes with a new 8-inch touchscreen display for the infotainment system. It is complemented by a Bosé sound system with 13 speakers and headrest-mounted displays for rear passengers. All eight occupants can lounge in comfort on tan-covered leather seats, with the driver getting memory function. Plus, the new Patrol Royale is fitted with Nissan’s Around View Monitor and Intelligent Mobility systems for increased ease while behind the wheel, as well as heightened safety.
The 2018 Nissan Patrol Royale is priced at P3,749,990.
