A few weeks back, one of the major Japanese car companies in the Philippines announced that it would be undertaking a voluntary recall to replace airbag inflators that were affected by the Takata airbag safety issue that rocked the auto industry a few years ago. Now, it’s Honda Cars Philippines Inc’s turn to issue the same recall for some of the models it has sold in the country in recent years.
The affected models are the 2013 Honda City, Jazz, and Pilot that were sold in the country from 2012 to 2015. According to HCPI, these models may have defective Takata airbag inflators that could deploy due to excessive internal pressure. The move is merely a precaution to avoid any untoward incidents of the airbag inflator casing being ruptured and causing serious physical injury or worse..
Honda says that the replacement will only take around one (1) hour and is FREE of charge. Customers can check if there vehicle is covered by the said recall by logging on to http://hondaphil.com/services/vin-search/. Here, they can use the Chassis Number or Vehicle Information Number (VIN) tools.
