Most kids and kids-at-heart know for a fact that Santa Claus goes around the world in a sleigh pulled by reindeer. This year, however, the Jolly Old Man in a Red Suit decided to leave the trusty ol’ sleigh at home and ride around in a Mazda MX-5 Miata. Or a bunch of them, for that matter.
Yes, the kind folks of the Mazda MX-5 Miata Club in Japan continued its annual holiday tradition (which it has been doing for around a decade now) of spreading Christmas cheer in various prefectures in the Land of the Rising Sun. This year, the car nuts were joined by Mazda executives and employees as they took a few kids for a ride in their top-down roadsters.
Helping out the Single Parent Families Welfare Association, some 26 Miatas from various generations were dressed up in holiday garb and did sleigh duties, ferrying the kids in and around Tokyo, Hiroshima, and Yokohama. It’s all part of making these kids smile and letting them feel the Christmas spirit.
And yes, the group seems to have succeeded as even passersby on the street were waving and smiling as they drove by. It was truly a Merry Christmas for one and all.
