Last week, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) teased us with silhouette shots of its upcoming Multipurpose Vehicle (MPV), which it will launch at the 25th Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show next month. Weeks before the grand unveiling, the Japanese carmaker has graciously taken the covers of the still unnamed MPV for all the world to see.
A quick glance reveals that, indeed, the Next-Generation MPV sports the brand’s Dynamic Shield design language. This can be seen in the sharp front end, which it shares with models like the Montero Sport and Outlander. The side is dominated by a prominent character line and an upswept window treatment. The rear gets a large glass area and sleek taillights.
What sets this model apart from competitors like the Toyota Innova, Toyota Avanza, or even the Honda Mobilio is the “top class” space for seven passengers and their cargo. The cabin gets high-grade materials, a large touchscreen interface, and car-like dash. Naturally, flexible seating makes for versatility for all types of people and cargo carrying needs. Plus, Keyless Operating System promises to make life convenient by offering keyless entry and engine starts.
Ticking the tape at 4,475mm x 1,750mm x 1,700mm (length x width, x height), the new MPV is compact yet spacious enough to seat seven adults in comfort. Its 205mm ground clearance gives it SUV-like capability when tackling less than favorable road conditions. And yes, it is both stylish and functional at the same time.
The Next-Generation Mitsubishi MPV will be powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder motor with Mitsubishi Innovative Valve Timing Electronic Control (MIVEC) for the utmost in power and efficiency. The mill will be paired with either a manual or automatic gearbox.
At press time, not much else was revealed about the Next-Generation MPV, including the name Stay tuned, however, as we’ll give this and much more to you once these are revealed. The 25th Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show will run from August 10-20, 2017.
