The ultimate Deakinitis

.
October 24, 2014

So now I think I've hit the ultimate Deakinitis moment. Basically, it goes like this. I do not use Twitter. I have an account that is linked to my Facebook page, but I don't use it exclusively. So in other words, I don't fully understand how the platform works.

Anyway, to cut a story short, I get this notification below. This is all I see.

So when I reply, this is all that comes out.

I’m thinking it is just someone that wants to use a common friend to verify my account. And as I have been on Mo’s podcast before, it seemed perfectly normal. So I replied: Yes it is

The following morning, I get a message from a friend. He’s freaking out. It turns out that I replied to a thread that said this:

So now it looks like I’m putting my hand up and confirming it.

Pretty funny indeed––until innocent people start getting dragged into it and getting unnecessarily hurt. So I sent this reply to both Mo and the person who started it all

I would have let it go––and as you can see by the dates, I pretty much did––but a few days later, I notice on my dashboard of my website, the key words used to find my site are this:

Then, it gets picked up by a blog. And worse, a friend texts me and says he heard the blind item on radio.

So as much as these things seem to only happen to me and as genuinely funny as it is, it has reached a point where it has already started to inflict pain on innocent people and tarnish reputations.

My wife doesn't need to see that, much less my kids.

So, as flattering as it is, if Mo is certain that something is going on with his ex, he obviously has it on good information, which means he certainly knows it is not me. So once again, Mo, I'm asking you to come forward and kindly clear my name so we can all go back to laughing about Deakinitis. Cause right now, it ain't all that funny.
