As with most car companies these days, Honda Cars Philippines has a slew of Sport Utility Vehicles and crossovers in its lineup. One of these is the HR-V, which has been around since 2015. While it was originally meant as an urban warrior for those looking for a small yet practical ride, Honda thinks it’s much more than that.

Yes, the Japanese carmaker wanted to show off the more adventurous side of the High Riding Vehicle by bringing a group of motoring journalists on a Southern adventure via media test drive to Batangas and Tagaytay. Starting off from Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, the convoy of HR-V RS Navi and E variants made its way thru the South Luzon Expressway down south to Batangas.

On the highway, the journos got to feel the adequate pull from the tried-and-tested 1.8-liter four-cylinder motor with the brand’s vaunted VTEC or variable valve timing technology. This showed that it could hold its own not just around town but also along those long stretches of tarmac.

Once the group got the twisty sections of Talisay, Batangas, however, the handling capabilities came into focus. Honda claims that the suspension and steering have been tweaked to serve up a more comfortable ride that doesn’t sacrifice handling. It’s the kind of balance that made everyone feel truly relaxed while not hampering driver confidence.

Yet whether you’re cruising along the highway or heading up those twisties, pccupants will enjoy the new 7-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. And who can miss the eye-catching dash layout that has a style all its own. All this wrapped in a body that  has been updated with new headlamps, grille, and alloy rims for 2018.

Yes, the Honda HR-V is more than just an urban warrior. The media drive proves that you can take it out of the city and head out to your favorite mountain hideaway or beach. It’s a great all-rounder that looks the part as well.
