Almost 2 weeks after its successful opening round, the 2017 FlatOut Race Series (FORS) returned to the Batangas Racing Circuit (BRC) for a second helping of on-track action last April 1. This time around, a total of 105 drivers went on to prove their mettle in the said premier grassroots racing series’ Time Attack and Grid Race event.

The day’s scorching heat proved nothing to stop JC Baguisa from dominating Bracket A. With his best lap time of 1:48.440, he went atop the podium in 1st place, followed by defending champion Eduardo Suiza in 2nd with a best lap time of 1:49.583. The 3rd spot went to Dondon Portugal who clocked in a best lap time of 1:50.457.

The 3 drivers also finished in the same order in Bracket R, a special category featuring the fastest cars in Bracket A.

Down in Bracket B, Andrew De Asis took home 1st with a blistering lap time of 1:56.158. Not far behind were Aaron Lao and Ed Christian Go in 2nd and 3rd places, respectively. Bracket C, on the other hand, saw Ed Christopher Go clinching 1st place with his best lap time of 1:59.043. Claiming 2nd was Miggy Sohu, while rounding off the podium in 3rd was Paul Santos.

In Bracket D, Raymond De Pano and Jack Saquilayan completed the time trial in that order, while Henry Paul De Dios and Paolo Santos finished Bracket E in 1st and 2nd places, respectively.

Robert Tan, meanwhile, claimed 1st place victory in Bracket F, followed by Lars Alonzo in 2nd and Michael Angelo Turing in 3rd. Finally in Bracket G, Andre Tan proved the fastest against 12 other contenders including Greg Suing who crossed the line in 2nd and Noel Delos Reyes in 3rd.

The heat pressed on further into the day’s Grid Race event. Familiar faces such as Richmon Dela Rosa, Dondon Portugal, and Ferdie Sia led GT Radial Grid A on the early laps, but all 3 never made it to the 12th and final lap due to machine breakdown. This gave Rafael la’O the room to take the lead and win 1st place. He’s trailed by JC Baguisa and Ferdie Sia in that order.

In KYB Grid B, Patrichk Dela Rosa led the race from start to finish. But behind him was the highlight of the moment as Andrew De Asis and Sherwin Bargos kept close tabs with each other ‘til the end. They both crossed the finish line in that order.

Meanwhile in SmartFuels Grid C, a bit of drama ensued as Polo Bautista careened onto the barriers. However, the incident didn’t stop him from catching up and finishing 2nd place. Paul Santos clinched 1st while Hector Tan took 3rd.

A total of 14 drivers were seen battling it out for the win in Recaro Grid D. Out of the bunch, Robbie Alvarez, Raymond De Pano, and Jack Saquilayan took home 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, respectively. On the other hand, Greg Suing won 1st place in Works Bell Grid E. he was joined on the podium by Ralph Tan in 2nd and Lars Alonzo in 3rd.

The second round of the 2017 FlatOut Race Series had some pretty intense moments here and there, a great buildup of action leading to the third round which will happen on May 20, still at the Batangas Racing Circuit.
