Back to school for most students also means back to hanging out with the barkada. It isn’t that they don’t plan to hit the books, mind you. But of course, we must admit that it’s part of a balanced student life.

When thinking about cool hang-outs, a few places come to mind. There are more than a few spots around the Metro that can be considered student-friendly and conducive to studying and chilling out as well. If you’re in the Ortigas area, you might want to check out the Alice Tea Salon. This quirky little place takes inspiration from the famous fairy tale, with interiors seemingly taken straight from the book and the movie. It is located at 30 Pearl Drive, San Antonio, Pasig.

Those that want to get their mind into the groove of things can check out Table Taft Board Game Café at the 2nd floor, University Mall along Taft Ave in Manila. Patrons can play their favorite board games while munching down good food and caffeinated or other cool drinks to wash things down.

Of course, the University Belt has its own cafes. One of these is Café UK that specializes in vacuum-brewed coffee. This, along with its fully-stocked three-storey place with bar stools and other amenities will surely perk up anyone that drops by. You can find it at Dona Carmen Bldg 2, 2nd street corner D.R.C. Aguila street, Mendiola, Manila.

The folks at the Study in Katipunan may be on to something when they designed the place. Not only are the cozy interiors conducive to learning but the cubicles for rent will allow groups to put some quality study time in. The Study is located at 2nd floor, Regis Center, Katipunan Ave, Quezon City

Espana also has its own hang-out, the IChill Theatre Café. The unique underground theater at 1125 Dos Castillas street in Sampaloc, Manila offers sumptuous food, cold drinks, coffee, and chillers, board games, and even shows movies that allow students to chill after a long hard day at school.

And what’s a student hang-out guide without something from the famed UP Village in Diliman Quezon City. The Z Compound at 33A Malingap street is arguably the purveyor of the food park craze. This place located in the garden of one of the old houses serves up good food at a student-friendly price. It’s the perfect way to get you through the day and the coming school year.

And whether you’re in the busy U-Belt or bustling Ortigas Center, you can be sure that offerings like the Ford EcoSport will be your perfect companion. Its tidy dimensions may be a breeze to weave in and out of traffic. Yet it can still seat 4 or even 5 adults easily. And with Ford’s SYNC infotainment system, you stay connected and entertained while on the move—without compromising safety. Oh, and its SUV ride height means you can tackle those flooded city streets without fear.

Have a productive schoolyear ahead. And don’t forget to chill out once in a while, okay?
