It's no secret that the Philippines is blessed with an abundance of beaches and other scenc destinations. With 7,100 or so islands to choose from, it's funny how many will travel thousands of miles just to find that perfect getaway when they have a wealth of choices right in their own backyard.

With summer making its presence felt, there is no better time than now to choose from those numerous beach destinations. To make things a bit easier, Ford Philippines gives us five (5) must-see beaches that will surely help you enjoy the season even more.

Pangasinan:
If you're after a beach that isn't too crowded, then consider Patar White Beach in Bolinao, Pangasinan. Its main attraction is the powdery white sand that lines the long shoreline. Thus it's no surprise that it has been dubbed as the Boracay of the North. And it's only a good four or so hours awway from Metro Manila--making for a great road trip.

Puerto Galera:
More white sand can be seen on this scenic beach. More popularly known for various music festivals and other activities, Puerto Galera is still a must-go-to-place when thinking of frolicking in the sand and having a good time on the waves.

Zambales:
This Northern getaway has a wealth of beaches to choose from. There is Liwliwa, Crystal Beach, or Capones Island. Those that want something unique might want to try out the Inflatable Island near Olongapo. This giant playgrond even comes with swngs, monkey bars, trampolines, and slides, among others.

La Union:
This is surfers' paradise. San Juan, La Union offers waves that will challenge anyone who likes to ride those big swells. And with a slew of accomodations to choose from, it's the perfect weekend getaway.

Batangas:
Did you know that you don't need to travel far to experience that Greek vibe? You can find it right on Fortune Island. Located an hour off Nasugbu, this island paradise gives you a touch of Athens with its breathtaking vistas and other amenities. It's one of the province's best kept secrets.

Of course, part of the adventure is getting there. This is where a good road trip vehicle like the Ford EcoSport comes in. Its compact size, mixed with SUV ground clearance and versatility mean you and the gang or brood can pack all your gear and head out to that island getaway.
