Nico Rosberg Calls it a Racing Day

There is a saying that goes, “quit while you’re ahead”. It seems that current FIA Formula 1 World Champion Nico Rosberg has taken this to heart. The German racing champ has recently revealed that he will be retiring from F1 racing after winning the crown in Abu Dhabi.

The young German isn’t just the current Best Driver. Apart from the prestigious title, he has also scored a few accolades during his illustrious career. He has won 23 out of 206 races, putting him in 12th spot of the all-time F1 Drivers’ list, alongside Nelson Piquet. He has likewise scored 20 fastest laps and 30 pole positions. And he is the first German driver to secure a championship trophy behind the wheel of a Mercedes Silver Arrows race car.

For Rosberg, the decision was reached as early as his Suzuka Grand Prix victory. Thoughts of calling it a racing day lingered in his mind. And when he finally bagged the dream in Abu Dhabi, he knew that was it. While he leaves with a heavy heart, he knows that this is the right thing to do. He has fulfilled a life-long dream. And for him, that was enough.
