Challenged in 2018, Hyundai PH looks poised to make 2019 its year of prosperity

For many, 2018 was not so much a remarkable year in terms of business. Although not the worst on record, the reality is that most businesses, especially in the local auto industry have experienced far better sales results in 2017. One automotive brand can attest to this; Hyundai Asia Automotive Resources, Inc. (HARI).

The exclusive distributor of Hyundai vehicles in the country closed its 2018 yearbook with 35,401 units sold. That’s around 6% lower vs. its 2017 total sales amounting to 37,678 units. According to HARI, the challenges that faced the Philippine economy in 2018 have a lot to do with its slight dip in sales.

But despite this setback, HARI’s 2018 experience is still quite colorful in other aspects.

For example, it began the construction of 2 new dealerships in Marikina and Batangas City, respectively in January. It also set its sights into boosting its corporate social responsibility structure by focusing on Social Entrepreneurship Programs and Sustainable Development. In March, HARI opened the doors of its Hyundai Dream Center Philippines, basically a technical school for aspiring auto mechanics and Hyundai master technicians.

With Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo as its CEO, HARI also sharpened up its focus on empowering women through its partnership with TESDA. In April, HARI Graced the 2018 Manila International Auto Show with its “The Greatest Show” booth. This was followed by its accomplished duty as the official mobility partner of the first ever FIA Motorsport Conference held last June.

But what is perhaps the greatest achievement for HARI last year was its December introduction of the all-new Hyundai Accent, one of its best-selling vehicles. The Accent co-debuted with the new Grand Starex Urban and the all-new Santa Fe, with the special appearance of the Ioniq Hybrid to spice things up.

With all these 2018 achievements on the record, HARI is looking forward to a better, more awesome 2019.
